Celebrant Funeral Training Course offered by Celebrant Training Australia is an intensive 3 consecutive day face-to-face course via Zoom. You do not require registration by the Attorney Generals Department or any other Government entity to perform these services.

Our Course instructs participants to be able to prepare for and perform a funeral ceremony with the needs of the client family in mind and in a professional and respectful manner.

The following components within the Celebrant Funeral Training Course relate directly to this units Performance Criteria and Range of Variables and will inform and provide guidance for assessment of the unit in the workplace and/or training programme.

Some of the topics within the Celebrant Funeral Training Course are as follows:

Client Communication techniques – accurate written and verbal instructions. Listening skills, grief awareness, empathy, confidentiality and respect will be highlighted.

  • Designing a service that reflects the wishes of the family, with required elements of ritual and symbolism. Including writing and selecting appropriate material for presentation.  Writing the service and writing a eulogy.
  • Appropriate resource selection – words, poems, symbols, music and powerpoint presentations.
  • Ability to relate to people from a range of social, cultural, religious and ethnic backgrounds and physical and mental abilities.
  • Public speaking skills.
  • Time management skills.
  • Working with funeral directors and other associated professionals within the required protocols.
  • Adherence to professional dress standards. Ability to display dignity and solemnity.
  • Stress management skills and the ability to manage emotions.
  • The order of service.
  • Dual services – Chapel/Home and graveside.
  • Role plays by the trainer will include taking the call from the funeral director, family interview, a funeral ceremony.

Each student will be given a case study family to write a service for and then will be required to perform that ceremony for assessment.

PERFORM GENERAL FUNERAL CELEBRANCY

Description

This unit within the Celebrant Funeral Training Course covers the ability to prepare for and perform a funeral service in the absence of a clergy person or celebrant and in accordance with the needs of the client family.  It is applicable to funeral conducting staff and involves working autonomously with a high level of responsibility and liaising with family and other staff.

Our Celebrant Funeral Training Course will teach you how to plan a funeral service

Celebrant Funeral Training Course will cover how to liaise with directing personnel regarding funeral service arrangements and requirements.

  • Rituals and ceremonial requirements are identified and provided for when planning the service.
  • Family and friends are liaised with as required in planning and developing funeral services which involve specific rituals.
  • Service participants are indentified as required and liaised with regarding their roles.
  • Resources required to conduct funeral services are identified and gathered.
  • Ceremonial speeches are prepared as required in consultation with funeral directing staff or deceased’s family and friends.
  • Liaison with family and friends is conducted with empathy and sympathy.

Celebrant Funeral Training Course will give you the skills to confidently perform a funeral service

  • Appropriate dress standards are adhered to reflecting workplace policies and conveying a professional image.
  • Rituals and ceremonial requirements are carried out correctly demonstrating appropriate respect.
  • Ceremonial participants are involved at appropriate times as required.
  • Ceremonial speeches are delivered at correct times.
  • Ceremonial speeches are delivered audibly using appropriate language and correct grammatical structures.
  • Appropriate public speaking delivery strategies and devices are used when delivering ceremonial speeches.
  • Appropriate non-verbal communication strategies and body language are used during the service.
  • Sensitivity, empathy and respect are demonstrated throughout the funeral service.

Each student enrolled in our Celebrant Funeral Training Course will be given a case study family to write a service for and then will be required to perform that ceremony during the 3 day training for assessment.
