NEW ADVANCED SESSION “Understanding Community and Cultural Diversity”
Trainer: Sue Henthorn | 2 hours @ $50

Australia’s population is a diverse blend, whether we are talking multicultural, multi-religious, non- religious, disability or LGBTQIA+. Whatever our personal view, as celebrants we have an obligation to work with our socially and culturally diverse couples in a respectful and honest manner.
This session will assist celebrants in understanding what barriers/limitations, if any, there might be to community and cultural inclusion in a ceremony they co-create with their couple. It can be as simple as knowing that some cultures frown on public displays of affection; others may wish to have traditional rites or rituals included. The etiquette and understanding of working with people with disability or the respect and acceptance when working with LGBTQIA+ couples. Celebrants need to fully understand the meaning of these community and cultural issues in order to show proper respect and empathy when working with their couples as they journey towards their very special day.
